Playoff Heartbreak

Posted by John Biddiscombe on 25 April 2012

After getting pipped at the post for automatic promotion, Guildford failed in their attempt to gain promotion to National League Division 1 via the play-off matches.

With arguably the worst possible draw playing the 1st and 2nd matches in the triangular playoff (playing back to back matches and NOT having the chance to watch/scout either of the other teams)

Guildford beat Brentwood in a nervous 5 set match, but were unable to carry forward any momentum into the second match against Nottingham Rockets losing 3-0

So that is the NVL season over for another year, but planning has already started for the next season starting in September.

It should prove to be as exciting as ever - especially for the men who will welcome two new local rivals to Division 2 South from either end of the A3 corridor namely Horndean and Richmond.
