Posted by John Biddiscombe on 24 April 2013

While there have been no reward for the teams this season individual players have excelled. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is for the player who receives the most votes from opposing teams at matches throughout the season. Guildford players have come out on top in both the mens and womens divisions with Nicholas Epiphaniou Guildford's explosive outside hitter winning the mens award for the second season in a row and Monika Regrutova clinching the womens award with a season full of dominant middle blocking performances.

To cap a memorable night for Guildford, club chairman John Biddiscombe was awarded the Long Service Volunteer award recognising his 25 years as player, coach, referee and chairman of Guildford. Outside of the club, he is on the committee of the county and regional volleyball associations also having served on the board of Volleyball England. One of the army of volunteers at London 2012 Olympics John was part of the team that provided the match statistics for the Indoor Volleyball at Earls Court.
